✍🏽reasons to love again

l would kill you with kindness

and later ask if you’re alright.

i would throw away all that i knew

about love

and ask the heavens to be my guide.

i would stab you in your chest

with unconditional affections,

i would afflict you with the kind

of love that keeps you so far from depression.

for love is how you treat someone

and not how you feel for them,

and so, i would leave marks

of commitment on your skin,

i would drain myself to love you

as though you were blameless

of any kind of sin.

i would kill you with generosity

and later ask if you’re alright,

i would inject you with gallons

of loving kindness until your every

tear was a tear full of joy.

and i would haunt you with

reasons to believe love truly exists,

and that you

are worthy of

every good and beautiful part of it.
