Rain and Me

By Jaishree Jaiswal

As I sat beside my window,

I hear the sounds of thunder

Winds blew harsh but soothing,

As it felt like chimes tuning.

Lightning struck, showing its frightening face

People went indoors, annoyed and galled

I used to hate, but don’t know why,

I felt like it was a shrill cry.

With a sudden start, raindrops came,

Pattering pattering on the ground

To me, it was something else,

It was a song clinking with the bells.

It is strange to like it suddenly

An enemy turning into a friend.

Who seems to guide me, soothing with his song

Rain and I, enjoying along.
