Radha and Krishna~two souls whose names are inseparable~are still remembered together, such was the depth of their bond. Shri Krishna placed Radha Rani above himself and devoted his heart fully to her. They were the living example of the saying “Do Jism Ek Jaan”. Though they never married, Radha Rani was bound to someone else. It is said her father had to place guards at the gates of Braj, because she would lose herself completely whenever she heard Krishna’s name.

To Krishna, Radha Rani was like mishri~a sweetness he could never resist. Many believe that Shri Krishna may not always answer prayers when called by his own name, but he always responds when invoked as “Radha Krishna.”

The mandala art in the background symbolizes how love brings symmetry and balance to life. Yet, the design has been made uneven intentionally, to show that while love creates harmony, life itself will never be perfectly symmetrical. There will always be ups and downs, imperfections, and trials. True relationships also have flaws. You might not always end up with the person you love, but even for the brief span of time you knew it was the most beautiful feeling of all.

In Indian tradition, the peacock represents joy, romance, and devotion. Its dance is linked to the rains—the season of Radha and Krishna’s divine love plays in Braj.

The lotus, Radha Rani’s favorite flower, grows in muddy waters yet remains untouched by impurity. It represents spiritual purity, detachment, and transcendence of worldly desires—just like love that stays pure even amidst material distractions.

In this age of Kaliyug, where people often seek only to fulfill material desires, the story of Radha and Krishna stands foremost, teaching them the true meaning of love.

I have named this painting “Radhakrishna,” for no other name can symbolize the purity of love more clearly. Only this name carries the essence of purity, divine power, and the eternal beauty of love that I wish to express through this work.
