Original Submission by Jorge Luis González Gordillo

I

Rest easy

Knowing the effect,

Impact if you will

The transcendence of that moment

What it could’ve meant to her

I’m confident she doesn’t think about it

It wasn’t something gruesome, like I abused her

I barely grazed her knee, let’s not confuse it

I’m not some sick predator that hunts women for sport

I was not looking for anything really outside of the norm

A small graze on her knee and I thought that she’d perform

And she didn’t so I stopped.

So at night I rest easy

See I’m quite the feminist darling

I’m sick of the men who quit stalling, can’t y’all hear the bell? It’s been calling

The patriarchy is falling, take it down, I’m for beheading this Paris of clowns

They suck,

and they’re strange,

and they must recognize they’re perpetrating the culture we’re trying to change

I’m for it, I’m for change,

I want us to progress,

Can you imagine? Being part of the problem?

I certainly can’t, can’t you tell I’m all for it?

Sure, I brushed her knee. But how bad can it be?

I rest easy, I never even think about it. I didn’t quite go past my right ’cause I am good and good’s all right.

I never ever think about some nights.

There’s no fight, since she hasn’t brought it up everything is going well for me

I just feel swell for me and

I’m so behind the empowerment of the female mind, when people complain “they shouldn’t burn shit” I go insane, how don’t they get it?

I’m sure that she knows that I get it.

I’m certain she’ll quickly forget it.

I’m certainly part of the change, yet no one gives me credit, who’ll edit my name into history. Darling feminism is no mystery to me. I’m with you and we will beat them I’m different than them.

I’m us and they’re them

I’m your friend.

I’m here for you, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with me, what’s wrong with you? Can I help heal your blues?

I’m picture perfect baby how about you?

Let’s change the world together me and you

I’d love to apologize really ’cause I’m the nice guy, feel me? But because they aren’t me, apologizing would be silly.

I’m not the bad guy

Like the guys who punch women

Or who abuse them, or dismiss them when they talk about the issues with the current system, I listen. Come with me my love

I promise you won’t miss them I’m the good guy

And good guys regret when they fuck up, because good guys aren’t so stuck up, so if they tell you that they’ve fucked up

Would you grant a chance to your guy? And another? And another? And another?

Yeah let’s take the bad all down

No not him

Not him either

They just slipped a bit, I’ll vouch for either

They just slipped, a couple times

I just slipped a couple times

I keep on slipping but slipping’s not a crime

Get the bad guys, those are crimes

Me?

No I’m good baby, I promise

You get it?

I’m good! Man you know it

A few little slips but tell me I didn’t blow it!

I’ve never, you know, crossed the line,

How can I be bad when I’m not even violent?

How bad could it be if I chose to stay silent?

You should trust me, I’m cool I’m the type that is fine girl ;), you’re fine girl, you’re fine girl, you’re mine girl, you’re mine.

I’ll knightly and chivalrous defend the word!

Feminism! Say it! “Feminazi” is absurd!

I’ll bleed my heart out for the cause babe, haven’t you heard?

you can see how much blood spills from me

I’m the knight you need! You need, you need, you need me

I know you need me

Say you need me

Say “you’ve freed me”

It’s not like I want you on your knees and appeasing my head doubts

It’s not like I want you to go worship and idolize me

It’s not like I want you to fantasize and romanticize me

It’s not like I want you to praise me

It’s not like I’m base label crazy

It’s not like I want to humiliate and punish and starve you till famished and make you feel hazy and it’s not that I’m cruel when I’m brazen

It’s never that I want to break you

It’s definitely not like I’m wanting to tame you

It’s positively not that I hate you

Who says that I’m needing a fixing

A knight’s perfect good at existing

I’m easy babe, there’s nothing to it. Oh gaslighting? I don’t do it. I don’t do it, say it with me, I don’t do it

I don’t do it I don’t do it I don’t do it I don’t do it.

There is no moon tonight babe I’m no werewolf

Do you beware the boy who cried wolf

It’s not like I want you to adore me

Because in my head that’s love for me

It’s not like I can’t be a part of

It’s not that I want to feel smarter

It’s not how I cry that I´m broken

It’s not that I wanted to show off a hot chick

I understand that feminism is nothing without intersectionality, I know the fight is regardless of creed or nationality. I know trans women are women, and trans men are men. I know queer people, non-binary folk, yeah I know them

I know it all babe I swear, Awomen.

Tell me I have a good heart

Look see how pretty is this silver lining?

No this is me babe, how could I be lying?

I’ve learned all my lessons and now I’m just trying.

I’ll be someone worth crucifying.

No baby I’m not the same old monster

Must be something new

Perhaps something just very old

Which is it girl think you?

I wish I could share more bad things with you babe but I really don’t have them.

I really really really really don’t have them

I never regretted a drink

Afraid of who I became

When I lost my inhibitions

I never think of a certain night

When a friend in need asked to spend a night

And in exchange for a place to stay

I kept pushing for her to meet me halfway,

When a kiss on the neck felt the wrong way.

I never think of the day after, kicking her out so my mom wouldn’t find her,

Because after all I was the hero, giving her a place for the night.

I don’t think of the girls who must not want me in sight.

I pledge my life to women’s rights

So at night I rest easy, knowing I didn’t do anything wrong,

Because sure she stopped me, but still there’s no marks in the song

Because I’ve forgotten already about when my hand was unsteady

About those few times when I brazen left marks that were heavy

Because I’ve developed a niceness too thick to be cracked by a memory that falls just too heavy.

Because what’s a man when his hand tightens ready, I’ve no crimes allude me

Don’t feel like eluding the truth when I say I’m just prude me.

It’s not like I drank and felt easy to think every person pursued me

And the liberties I took those times-

I never consider a certain remembrance

With hazy fog memories a bathroom and bear pants

When alcohol fueled I overlooked my temperance

A body that carries the weight of my imprints

I never consider the “what might have happened”

Of course I don’t fear what I’ve done, I’m not that man

I don’t oft think of certain times

and feel afraid

I’ve crossed the lines,

I certainly don’t have those times, not one of them comes to my mind, don’t have those times. Nope, no sir none occur to me I’m just as good as good can be, I am a good boy Momma see? You can help fix me, honey bee. Isn’t that cute my honey bee? I gave you a pet name, now do me. I’ll be your little broken brute I’m even 5’7 now isn’t that cute?

Kiss me cute

Lick my boot

Kiss it cute

Are my feet cute?

You can help me can’t you?

I’ll make it all about us two

Trust me, it’s me and you

I’ll love you just like lovers do

You want that boo?

Remember look at me, it’s just us two

Forget the world too, me and you.

Come heal my blue.

pillars to pull down.
