Puzzle

In a messy dark room,

I sat in the corner solving

Solving a puzzle, piece by piece.

Putting a few hundred fragments slowly together.

Each segment helped form the image.

Hours went by in seconds figuring out where the pieces fit.

I spent weeks in the corner solving,

Feeling and understanding the image.

The puzzle slowly filled up the room.

Tile by tile the chunks covered the floor,

It was bigger than I had expected.

I didn't have space to continue

I took my desk out of the room.

I had no use of it right now

I had to complete the puzzle.

I continued placing the fragments.

I didn't have space to continue

I threw my bed out.

Sleep was not worth it.

I had to complete this puzzle

I didn't have space to continue

I hurled my wardrobe out of my room,

Why did I need clothes?

I had to complete the puzzle.

I continued fixing the parts.

I didn't have space to continue!

I flung my newspapers, books and novels out,

Out of the window, shattering the glass

What good was knowledge right now?

I had to complete the puzzle.

I walked,

I ran,

I scrambled around my room.

I slipped,

I tripped,

I tumbled around my room.

Piece by piece I solved the puzzle.

Victory awaited me in the next room.

'Victory' awaited me.

I was near!

The joy of winning was screaming,

And I could hear it

I could hear it calling out my name.

It was waiting to embrace me.

Piece by piece I was solving it.

The room was getting filled,

I was suffocating.

The pieces were crushing my body,

I could feel my bones crack,

I could feel my organs tear,

I could feel my tears run over my face,

I could feel my blood drip.

But, I had to complete this puzzle.

The sweetness of victory was calling my name,

Begging me to continue.

Just two more pieces to go!

I Placed one,

One more piece to go.

Where was the final piece?

I searched in my pocket,

I searched and I searched

I searched till my breath stopped.

I searched till the tears stopped

I searched till my blood stopped flowing.

But I couldn't find it.

I died with the bitterness and sour taste of loss in my mouth.

It was still calling me!

Begging me to continue.

Knocking on my door.

Victory awaited me in the next room.

But I couldn't open the door and greet it.
