Purgatory

I'm meant to find the place where all good things begin

a prayer on my lips and a tear in my eye

I go down to the edge of the lake

where I wait through the dusk for the night to fall

I was an atheist before I met you

the crooks in your body are my religion

you think you're possessing me

but I've got my teeth in you

the blood on my lips

tastes like the sweetest sin

like the way you look at me

close your eyes now, the light is fading

darkness brings evil things

I was told to repent for all my sins

but every moment in your presence

I'll greedily take

a sin with each touch

commit and repent, all with you

they will build you no shrines

sing you no songs

because you've seen the other side of living

and now you know heaven is a lie

so I must preach you to my damnation

go somewhere not even the gods would find us
