Perhaps I was a snake

Coiled around Medusa's head

As she weeped night and day

Erased for the pantheon's sake

Perhaps I was the granite

She turned her convicts into

Stained from within by their blood

Gave way without a fight

Perhaps I was the eyes

That turned flesh to stone

Hidden and enraged

Once, they were bright and sage

Perhaps I was the marble

Where he killed her anew

Sat still, resonating screams

The altar, they now marvel

Perhaps I was her

A priestess, a girl

A Punished monster

With no place in this world
