Prayer

By Arvind Dewangan

In heart and soul, I hold Thee near,

O Lord, Thy presence always here.

Let me be called Thy faithful son,

Let me serve Thee till all is done,

All living beings, great and small,

May I bring joy and peace to all.

With bowed head, in devotion deep,

May Thy holy name my lips keep,

No ocean of sorrow, wide or strong,

Shall keep me from Thee for long.

Come in any form, O Master divine,

Ever in my heart Thy light shall shine,

In joy or grief, I’ll never stray,

Grant me wisdom to walk Thy way.

This India, our land, I cherish and love,

Through mountains, rivers, forests, like a dove,

I’ll soar and sing with grateful heart,

Its beauty and glory I’ll never part.

May none forget its noble fame,

With every breath, I’ll honor its name,

First Thy glory, O Lord above,

Then my homeland, with endless love.

Humility, O Lord, is my way so true!

I sing Thy song in every place I view,

In heart and soul, I hold Thee near,

O Lord, Thy presence always here.
