Poetry and Pain

Pondered about pain

Knew its power to change

Heard it turns people into poets great

Read Sylvia and Kamala expressing all things grave.

Pain is universal

It is experienced by all

Caused by factors great and small

You need an ointment to treat the physical ones and time to manage the invisible ones.

No pain is big or small

Makes all go through a lot

Handled in different ways

It leads to healing or cuts open deep wounds.

Unrequited love, unfulfilled dreams,

Or loss of a loved one it may be

You go through the fire, walk on the thorns, experience the nightmares

To ultimately become the Phoenix and fly away.
