Pink Gem

Shipped from Sri Lanka in all its glory,

Heart shaped pendant came into my life soaring;

Loved was I by my fairy godmother Glenny,

Paired with the necklace were the sharp edged pink earrings.

Boxed in the blue velvet glitter tantrum,

Acquainted with the dainty pearls,

Tangled with the maroon choker from the renaissance fair, Laid with its blue doppelganger was a star locked symphony.

Painted delicate, she was as sure as my rough patches

Called as two peas in a pod, she soon became my other half. Defined by the colour combination of blue and pink,

Devoured was I in her beauty, struck out of endless three-s.

Marched in confidence along the haunted valley of ghosts Held hand-in-hand, hey, tag, she was it.

Treasured under the sea of sand, marked the X spot

Gifted by me, the pink gem moved around elliptically.

Stacked and sorted chocolate bars in the drawers together Clocked out constantly, we were due for a long inhale.

Overlooked was a castle of dominoes waiting for our gamble Knocked over the pieces of our ego from a short exhale.

Closed and turned, the chapters of our life stained my childhood Graded as ultra-premium, the brand of our friendship got mainstream; Baited with flesh, the pages of our future flipped inside out Rolled down the middle of our destiny spanned a pink red carpet.

Persuaded was she to the path of silver screen

Shrugged off tensions of discomfort, it got colder in the corridors. Rifted apart, the angles of the pink gem shifted to obtuse Stepped down from spotlight, I was brought back to daylight.

Wandered all over the ground floor, I was blinded by the grandeur Dressed up in unity, boiling inside was a wok full of mutiny; Danced to repetitive beats, our routines no longer intertwined Stretched out to maximum capacity, my heart was no longer in the vicinity.

Tied to the leash for far too long,

Confused by the ringing of distorted memories in my ears,

Yearned for something way less pink,

Unexpected was I to find myself on the purple trails.

Tagged along with a multitude of nameless faces,

Lingered were your glances short before I noticed;

Dripped beneath the station, hovered the hue of frozen icicles

Spread wide, the wings of the peacock eyed the prize.

Faced down as the trail led upstairs,

Inked indelibly, our pages remained blank.

Aligned with the framed sand art sent by Glenny,

Turned the hour glass to one eighty degrees.

Worried no longer and sought no more;

Nulled by you and erased by me;

Blinded by the sun and grounded by the moon;

Buried down the earth's core, I lost the pink gem.
