Piecing Together Me

By Anshul Singh

Broken truly spectacularly

Under a cold, witnessing rain

Pieces of me look hauntingly out

All asking me the same

Will the wind come rushing in

Hold the downpour for a bit

Like a spell cast from within

Spirited forth a true friend

It's being helpless not being whole

It's freezing and I need a cloak

My reason and warmth that loves me deep

Never strayed far this late beforeĀ

I piece together my old sonder, fusing

The afterglow of love with its aftermath

Now pieced together, the wind on my hair

I marvel the stars, thank the clear heavens

The forever never came

Could have been differentĀ

Cursed to be the same

So I'll lie with my grateful heart

Thank you for saying my name

Thank you for all that love

And all this pain
