People Left Behind

As the waters of time flow,

I think of those left behind,

Some strangers, some from my past,

I wonder, where did their destinations lie?

Walking down the streets; passing by the old trees,

I think of the ones I met along the way,

The ones who said, 'You'll be okay.'

I want them to know how much their words meant,

And how I'll never forget,

As the aurora put on a show,

I think of the realms unknown,

Those dancing green and red streaks shine,

And I wonder, do they also get left behind?

Watching the sun set; seeing the sea and the horizon meet,

I think of the ones I'll encounter next,

Only to move on,

And keep them in my remembrance,

It's wonderful;

How we stagger into each other's life,

Cause waves; low and high,

Leave impressions on the sand of their minds,

And don't even realise,

Afterall, we're too someone's people left behind.
