Passion
By S. Sonali
The peak of the summit, towering,
An unshakeable heart, never cowering,
They who seek solace in burning,
Give my stomach an unbearable churning.
I cry in the corner, covering my eyes,
Burying my envy, spewing reassuring lies,
From them whose souls burn with this fire,
Setting ablaze everything with persistent desire,
To run, to rush, and push their limits,
Pining for the top with utmost grit,
Pathetic of me to condemn such vigor,
To protect me from my own monsters.
I, who am trapped inside a room so cold,
Hope for one day this burning to take hold.
