Particle Unknown

By Astha

The universe seems to strengthen,

or perhaps it’s gravitation playing its role.

The pull is magnetic, attraction at its zenith

we are aligned, like opposite poles.

You bring mean to my extreme,

oscillating between peace and chaos,

splitting seven colours from a single pulse

two prisms juxtaposed in contrast.

Our compression and rarefaction,

our crest and trough

we return like waves rebounding,

amplitude, frequency, wavelength - to and fro.

No rust to form, no corrosion to claim,

desire burns steady a blue flame, complete combustion.

No matter the distance, we trace our displacement,

motion and rest defined in magnitude and direction.

I don’t know what to call this paradox between logic and devotion,

undeciphered as the Higgs boson.

They say science explains it all,

yet love remains — a particle unknown.
