Parallel Love

By Tanie Natung

Like two railway tracks, we cannot meet,

In life though, we run beside each other;

The shackles of society keep us always apart,

Yet unshakable love binds us close together.

We may lie beside each other and gel,

But can never truly be one together,

Till we die, we know this truth well,

Yet we hold on, never let go of one another.

Our love’s strength will be tested,

Mercilessly, in the times to come,

It shall remain unwavering, not wasted,

And timeless, we know the outcome.

When the time to leave this world,

Finally comes to the door with its due,

You may not be beside me yet, furled—

A part of me shall remain a part in you!
