Paradox
By Ishaan Dikshit
Golden plumes, the horizon arise
Wind forlorn its structure.
Baked upon the sol's breath,
Parched beyond rupture.
"Quench'th my thirst" It begs,
"For far too long I've remained so"
A curse of nature beyond recognition,
Set in time long ago.
"Thine is cruel" says it. "Truly malevolent"
Unwavering, unfaltering, it's voice echoes.
"Feed me life, why have I been sent,
To the gallows of hell" It roars.
Pity it rains, just out of reach,
Tempting, oh so tempting.
To reach beyond the horizons stride,
A device unrelenting.
Crackles and thunderous booms surround,
Whom they touch by and go,
"Quench'th my thirst" It begs.
"For far too long I've remained so."
The horizon bends,
A new picture awake
Revealing land shrouded in darkness,
Of mist and scattered hail.
"Terrible it is, so cruel you are,
Why won't you let me grow"
The trees, the bushes, the soaked soil,
Are washed to and fro.
Beyond the horizon it envies,
The light that beams bright,
"Oh what have I done to suffer,
This moment of no light"
Pity it shines, just out of reach,
Tempting, oh so tempting
To reach beyond the horizons stride,
A device unrelenting.
Warm air and heat surrounds,
Whom they touch by and go.
"Terrible it is, so cruel you are,
Why won't you let me grow"
