Take me.
A getaway to paradise,
Surrounded with serenity.
And leave me there.
Where I can sit beside the river,
And let the twigs brush my hair.
I’ll peacefully write my thoughts-
Swirling in a whirlpool,
Entangled in knots.
Soon a cold winter rush,
A warm cardigan embracing me,
And the cheeks full of blush.
I’ll run to the diner,
Where all the town people gather,
And only an aged man in his aged recliner.
I’ll sit somewhere I can feel the heater’s kick,
Ask for wine, watch people-
Laugh, sing, dance on country music.
And soon I’ll join in,
Lose myself in euphoria,
Everything slower than it’s ever been.
Then I’ll go back-
To my little cottage,
Candle lights on the rack.
I’ll flop on the bed,
With a fluffy aura and his wagging tail,
And wet licks on my forehead.
I’ll sing a lullaby,
Till I descend into deep sleep,
Cuddled up with warmth, as if July.
I’ll wake up to the chirps,
And light trickling through the blinds.
Watch frost melt on the herbs.
I’ll put on something mellow,
And leave my pup to the neighbour,
Assure him not to feel yellow.
And I’ll head to the town with my ink,
Smiling at people, greeting them,
Till I reach the brink.
At the edge of the water again,
I’ll wish to live here forever,
In this paradise that keeps me sane.
