Pangs of Conscience

By Tina Aswani, Bhavisha Punjabi

I have been away from myself,

For a very long time now.

The purpose was to touch the sky,

And reach out for the stars.

But what I could possibly grab,

Were just the scars!

The purpose was to climb the ladder,

With all honesty and conviction,

But who knew what I was surrounded by,

Were just lies and deception.

Life, with all its perception,

is to achieve!

Accomplishments that define the same,

are hard to perceive!

Let’s define life today-

Is it a facade,

Or a mirage,

Or something that we sabotage,

With our false conceptions of it all!

Today, take a pledge,

To not lose ourselves in achievements,

That are in disagreement with our morals.

To ensure our conscience,

is void of all the quarrels!
