Owning the tides

Trailing through the labyrinth of life,

I reminisce upon my fallen plights.

As I yearn for the dawn of hope,

Expectations tower, and upon them, I choke.

The stars linger over my room;

Yet I gaze upon the solitaire moon.

Solitude is but a plea of the soul;

I rebuke myself as a mere mole.

A storm rises inside of me

As I endure all my casualties.

As I question reality-

Life hovers by, unknowingly.

Carving blemishes into my soul,

I carry the weight of long-lost hope.

Unfair as it may seem,

All there’s left to do is weep.

Diving over the troubled waters,

I wipe my tears as the view gets shattered.

They say the failure mutilated me,

But it maimed you just the same, indeed.

But it’s okay now,

’Cause I own the sea.
