Our Missed Chances

Ever thought about what could have been?
The countless hours spent walking the same path...
Thinking everything is stagnant, emotions on a standstill,
The direction of our footsteps remaining unchanged,
While seeing the seasons flash by in an uncalled for haste
Flower petals, raindrops, autumn leaves, snowfall...
Nothing ever hinted, that ...
I missed a thousand versions of you walking past me,
And oblivious to each other’s quests, we kept on going,
Unaware of our search for one another in this vast planet of ours.
We were adamant to walk in opposite directions,
With the same wonder in our hearts,
Asking “Was there someone to meet today?”
So that we could finally keep our inner children unleashed night and day,
Feel all the emotions of a love song... of our long held hopes,
Adding another journeyer to our solo round-the-world tickets,
And all the mundaneness that would be better with you in them... So,
I hope you stop next time you pass by me, and I glance back,
Then we take a turn and uncover a different path to walk on, together.
