Our Forefathers' Land - Asia
By J. Prince Wilfred
Our forefathers’ lands of sublime beauty,
Given to us to care as our divine duty.
Boundless boundaries and a ceaseless canvas all around,
In its wonder, we wander round and round.
Singing birds and swinging trees of what I see,
Moist and foist our hearts go freeze and free.
The breeze so pure and water’s heavenly cure,
Make celestial bodies blush and that is for sure.
Diverse oneness ingrained us as one father’s sons,
Ever vibrantly variant, but still coalescing under the Sun.
Cultures are countless as leaves on a single stem,
Yet, converging towards searing love is our gem.
Our heads rest on shoulders when life is a test, so pest,
Love lingers and tunes our souls with zest.
For others we die; for death heavy laden we cry.
Cause love is our sap, binding us from womb to tomb.
Extraneous tempests invade to obviate us down,
Like clowns they go, when we beat them down.
Caste crept casting condemned cuffs,
Like shredding trees, we disseminated apart.
Same Mother begot us not one high or low,
Hatred’s haste clutched my brethren.
We became slaves, never retaliating like cows.
To the same love for which we stood.
Still, we know darkness fades when light reappears,
For our right, we yearn for that light.
Our blood is against what we fight,
Unable to hit back clenching our hands so tight.
We will stop our weary cry,
For we know our blood loves us.
Our land will mend each of us as one,
Till then, we bend, waiting for an end.
