Our Broken Embers

I still remember the glistening embers,

I stared at in your fireplace.

You told me stories of all your glories,

While I listened in awe and praised.

You took me under your wings,

Gave me shelter and a place to stay,

While  I was broken and in pain,

But now you betrayed me and I guess that

my trust was misplaced.

Fire had always seem to been your true desire,

And I came, brought a new flame,

Brought you higher,

I should have known you were just a liar,

I should have known that you would too, set me on fire.
