Our Broken Embers

I still remember the glistening embers,


I stared at in your fireplace.


You told me stories of all your glories,


While I listened in awe and praised.



You took me under your wings,


Gave me shelter and a place to stay,


While  I was broken and in pain,


But now you betrayed me and I guess that


my trust was misplaced.



Fire had always seem to been your true desire,


And I came, brought a new flame,


Brought you higher,


I should have known you were just a liar,


I should have known that you would too, set me on fire.
