Only a God

You call him Father-

but what kind of father

builds a cradle of thorns

and calls it gift?

What cruel architect designs pain

into the blueprint of being,

stitches hunger into the wolf’s belly,

plants the cancer cell like a seed

in the child’s bone,

then turns his face away

and calls it mystery?

He claims to be love,

yet forged hell before the first man fell.

Wrote the script of our suffering,

then punished us for reading the lines.

The starving beg,

the raped bleed,

the mothers wail over small graves-

and where is his mercy?

Drowning in the silence

between prayers.

We are his failed experiment,

his abandoned draft.

He lights the fire,

then blames the kindling

for burning.

If this is divine,

then divinity is a knife.

If this is wisdom,

then wisdom is a joke

told at the gallows.

No devil could dream

such exquisite cruelty.

Only a god.
