One-Sided Love

“

An unknown ache lingers,

Amongst the unfathomable trenches,

Carved into a heart,

That never knew,

That never felt,

That never saw.

A constant battle stirs,

The fevered brain reaching,

To touch,

To caress,

To hold.

The body reacts,

To a proximity,

I neither know,

Nor dare to feel,

Where everything in between,

Remains a blur,

Darkening round the edges.

A storm of uncertainty presses,

Echoing through -

Unanswered questions,

Pulses and beats,

That stay longer,

Without reason,

Without motive,

Only around you.

Moments gather round me,

Every glance,

Every smile,

Every laugh,

From sparkling eyes,

To dimpled cheeks,

Tracing the contours,

Of a familiarity,

I never dared to know.

A pause between breaths,

Each step careful,

Each word measured,

Between longing and doubt,

Between friendships,

And something deeper,

A nurture beyond words,

A feeling sans a name,

A home without a home,

Tither everything pulls towards,

And apart,

From you.
