One Piece Of Shoe

Updated: Aug 28

By Snigdha Tripathi

Today Murali had opened the old almirah at home. His face was glowing with joy seeing many old items. He became happy as he found one piece of his favorite shoe pair which had been gifted to him by his wife Mugdha. Suddenly he remembered Mugdha. It had been two years since Murali and Mugdha got separated. Now the situation is entirely different. He too started to search for another piece of the pair for some unknown reasons. He brought everything out of the almirah as he didn’t get that. Still he couldn’t find the other piece. Holding that once piece of shoe he sat on the bed. He started thinking, “Had I got another piece of the shoe, I could have worn them. This shoe is still so fine. Mugdha too was so fine. When the gift of my choices was available, from morning to evening the routine too was going so well. My likes, dislikes, eating habits, drinking habits everything was known to her, but stubbornness caused all trouble. She was wishing to live her life. She was wishing to go ahead by doing a job. But due to my stubbornness she left me and went to her father.” Thinking all this Murali started crying. He understood that just as one piece from a pair of shoe is useless without the other, similarly he too is incomplete without his wife.

Without making any further delay he called Mugdha. The moment Mugdha received the call Murali said,“I’m sorry. I was wrong. Please forgive me. You come soon, I’ll make everything alright.” Mugdha got astonished as Murali had called for the first time after two years. Murali told Mugdha regarding the shoe and that he has understood his entire fault. Tears started to flow from Mugdha’s eyes too. Without making any delay she went to Murali.

The way one piece of a shoe is meaningless without the other piece in the pair, similarly relations too work; be it shoe be it relation, everything requires to be preserved properly.
