On battlefield of humanity, dead she lay
By Eulalia S N
He stomps not in his usual arrogance
but humbled, by her side, he kneels
Gazing into her eyes, a tear slips away
as he halts her heart into eternal freeze.
He came not alone, like on his routine tour
but with a band of angels that tore through the door
to see him take such a soul away
and carry it back through heaven’s doorway.
The mighty ‘Angel of Death’ he is
bowed now low before this queen.
Without a crown, without a cape
a gentle woman of simple means.
“I have taken many a soul
but seldom like this girl, so dear”
Wept he on that battle ground
that was soaked in stench of blood and fear.
Braving the blames of a scathing world
through tumultuous wars the damsel fought
Relentless on that bloodied field
Not for herself but for the weak and lost.
The deplorable acts of misogyny
trapped her in a veil of maligned humanity
Under the guise of concerned security
they clipped her wings and labeled her a property
But against this she drew her sword
Alone and afraid she braved those hordes
Not for herself but for her million sisters out there
enslaved in chains to the patriarchal chair.
When her owns whip ripped open her chest
She stood undeterred, her faith in none but herself
As her fearless blade slashed the selfish atrocities
She’s that every woman whose name shaped our history.
“I’m honoured to take you my lady” the dark angel cried
as he carried her in his arms, abandoning his sinister scythe.
Off he flew followed by his celestial army
Out of this biased earth and on to blissful eternity.
Now that’s the person I struggle to be
Where my every breath fights to set the world free
And finally meet an end so worthy
That death himself would bow before me.
