Oh! How I Wish

Oh! How I wish to climb these walls

Break free from the night of misery

Pass through the meadows in overalls

Escape from life's treachery

Will this free I ever be?

OH! How I wish to fly

Floating so smooth and high

Like a skylark in the sky

Singing of ecstasy well nigh

Will this sprite I ever be?

Oh! How I wish to fill the cloud

With the sweet nectar of hope

Creating shrills, oh so loud

With which sorrow would not cope

Will this brave I ever be?

Oh! How I wish to be a rose

With its scent and crushing duty

Which writes its story in a prose

Even after leaving all its beauty

Will this humble I ever be?

Oh! How I wish to be the moon

Waning sun of the night

Blessed with the boon

That ends darkness with its light

Will this illuminant I ever be?

Oh, at last! How I wish to be a soul

In this world of mortal song

Being incomplete enough to be a whole

Singing a verse centuries long

Will this me I'll ever see?
