Of Mystic Dreams
By Muzaffar Ahmad Nengroo
Your transcending wont into my dreams,
Time and again put me in awe & wonder…!
I don’t fathom this fathomless reprise,
That blossom those arid and parched realms.
You discern those days of vernal blossoms,
When bright petals blush with juvenile charm,
Those verdure buds began to spring with calm,
Young sepals shelter those dew draped virgin blooms.
You were the orb of my maiden love.
Nonetheless was I, the modest shy.
Emotional ripples resonate the lake Heart,
Never dared to touch the vocal shores.
I was reticent, molded in rustic demeanour,
Yet my passions transcend those illicit spheres,
Of angst, of denial and the negations,
True was I to my Heart and Mind.
Seasons and Courses passed by and my
Heart’s panes are fuddled by this strange rime;
Inept am I to decrypt this cryptic clime,
As this mystic yoke transcends on the sly.
What results such an endless labyrinth…!
Your unheard moans or my ineffable emotion;
That has led such a placid and laconic devotion.
Purloin my solace, espouse me in writing verse.
Your reflections are not my deliberate aspirations
Nevertheless you do come in my electric dreams,
That rejuvenate those parched and sere streams
Then flowing smooth and now gasping suspirations.
I am duped, amazed by this mystic maze;
These inexorable visions evoke those halcyon days.
Note: The poet had a crush on his classmate but never expressed his love. They had separate life trails and met after a long time after the lady’s marriage. Yet, it is quite mysterious for the poet to see her boyhood crush in his dreams quite often. Now the poet narrates the whole to his classmate…
