Of Love And Lament
By Muzaffar Ahmad Nengroo
As the cool breeze touches gently,
A Caravan in the blazing desert;
So is your every typed letter,
Doing to my wanderer soul.
Steady and soft droplets of spring,
Nourish the parched pelt;
Sleeping buds, dormant seeds,
Wake up by the April’s call.
The arid and gasping hide,
Sheathes in the Velvet Green.
So do your reflections time and again;
To my mind, heart and soul.
Anamnesis of the promises and sweet Callings;
Cultivate my dry emotions, my parched feelings.
Musings are sweet though have an effect,
Of merciless onslaughts of the Winter Breeze;
That suck life out of the Velvet Green.
Even the slight mention of you vibrates,
My heart into wobbly currents;
As if Tsunami hit the vulnerable shores.
I do still talk to you very often;
I do allay my withered emotions,
With those sweet memories.
May you live hundred springs,
May you bloom hundred blooms.
I do feel your presence;
In the absence of others;
I feel that soft look,
That maiden smile,
I feel that constant gaze,
That damsel somnolence;
Searching for my footprints,
On the forbidden Land.
Your place in my heart,
Isn’t the Juvenile ramification;
It was and it is corollary of
My discreet emotions and prudent reason.
Time has spun its wheel swiftly and silently;
Four winters passed by and I,
Am still on the untrodden path!
My vicarious visits get lost;
In the World Oblivion.
My waiting is afresh and new-
The resonant longings.
Your words infuse,
New life into my wailing heart;
Produce Orotund Old musical notes…!
You can’t be a forgotten chapter
Of my Life’s book;
You are but the chanting beads
Of my profound memoir.
I do miss you; quite often miss you
Even In my vicarious visits;
As you are cladded in the veil,
Like a walnut in a tough hide…!
Your unheard sighs and cries,
Your unshed tears and untold grief,
Set ablaze my frozen Heart;
My Invisible ardent Universe…!
Your unfulfilled dreams,
Your wished wishes are,
Echoing in the vales,
Of my fanciful World.
I am but a page in your Life’s diary;
You are but an incomplete chapter of my Life…!
Your absent presence has moulded
Me into a decent man;
A man of Virtue,
Blooming in the splashes of winter’s vapour.
I have learnt many things,
Unlearned those fanciful attires
Which lure the teens into the dark chasms!
Meeting you was an accidental episode;
Knowing you is a Treasured milestone,
Brought stunning spring in my withered autumn.
My fate’s winter got blushed like April’s bloom.
My droughty emotions got nourished.
Brought spring’s charm in my frosty spells.
Your given soubriquets and epithets,
Resonate in my buoyed vales.
Echoing in my blissful verdure vales,
As the monsoons patter the parched coasts.
As the mellifluous splashes of choral waterfalls.
As the wind rustles through verdant pines.
As the singing birds sing in the deep vales.
I owe you a lot;
You owe me naught.
I owe you my Heart;
You owe me naught.
Note: This is a love poem where the lover met his beloved in a virtual world. They spend years online and tried to get together but the circumstances don’t let them so. This is a lover’s call to his beloved.
