Of Betrayal
By Muzaffar Ahmad Nengroo
May you bloom like the Almond Blossoms!
May you bloom in Hundred April Blooms!
Your betrayal is harsh like winter of the dale;
Your memories are daisies of my barren vale.
Your sheer dream reflection infuses;
New tumults in the forgotten bruises.
I have no complaints, not anymore;
Your desertion was one cruel sore.
That put my somber heart,
Into an inclement uproar;
Yield nothing but eternal furor.
My passions and dreams succumbed,
To the reasons banal and obscure;
Sundry wiles dissolve the endemic love for sure.
Fatuous desires blighted the fecund fervor;
Abated that young and old love bordure.
Your ‘Coming’ in my dreams is scarce.
Painful enough, not meant to adore,
The bygone passion that rusted afore;
Yet are the sweet recalls in galore.
Their nostalgia will live on for evermore.
Yet turns more often into a farce.
Your visits to my heart vested visions
Is common, infest nothing but fretful fissions.
Note: This poem is composed in the context of betrayal by the beloved to her lover. So the lover in his anguish says to his beloved.
