Ode To The Sky

By Ashok Mitra

The sunlight emanates from the sky at the dawn,

The birds start chirping then to get me drawn.

The morning sky, overcast with white clouds

provides pure fresh energy and inspiration,

My song resonates there in the sky seeking

consciousness and strength in admiration.

The blue sky looks different with dense grey clouds,

The restless heart dances to the tune of rain,

Sound of flashing thunder makes me diffident

Oh sky! Why is there always the anxiety then?

The clean sky turns silent during the sunny afternoon,

Enjoying this beauty with free mind is surely a boon.

Emotions overflow as I stunningly gaze at the sunset sky,

In that serene golden expanse, the moon lies in slumber,

My dreams fly higher, my hopes come back stronger,

Love messages turn musical at the strumming of the guitar.

The night stars insinuate the inevitability of eternal sleep,

Only the new moon sky is privy to my confessions of pain,

But moonlit compassion erases the premonition of the dark

The glow of moonlight illuminates my soul again and again.

Oh Sky! I am truly charmed with your depth and diversity,

I humbly bow down in awe at your vastness and divinity.
