Ode to my Grief.

The day I laid you to rest,

I lost that battle that you were fighting for me

The day I last saw your eyes

My smile faded, tears rolled down my cheek

I pass each day with a façade,

For the world knows not of what I am deprived

For it knows not what I lost that day.

For my memories of you are stained, while your smile in it remains.

A voice of endless care to me, just a child back then.

But somehow you rest easy knowing, I am well,

For there’s not a day that passes that I don’t think of you

My mind is like shattered glass;

The day I last saw you.

For in mind my memories churn

Of wonder, thinking what it would be like to have you here, with me.

To know of what I know now,

I’ll still miss you every day, somehow.

For grief is endless the moment my thoughts run to you.

For I now realise, I will never be without loving you.
