Ocean Of Life

By Shobhit Gupta

Long have I waited at the shore

Too afraid to explore more

For the beach is sunny and certain

And the tides are wild beholding fate’s curtain

My heart longs for the far island in the sea

But every time I begin to swim, my legs flee

Will I be remembered in the history books I don’t know

But I’ll be called a coward if I am too slow

For the waves favour the brave sailor who sails in the King tide

The meek are lost in Davy Jones’s locker, in the shallow seas who confide

I can’t stay away from the water for too long

The waves of desire in my heart have become strong

The sounds of waves haunt my dreams, playing a melancholic song

It’s time for me to sail, destiny has waited too long

I’d take my throne as the ruler of the seas

For Poseidon has got old, he can’t keep his keys

I am the son of Bharat, the land of the Vedas

I bow before no one but Mahadeva
