O Rain

O Rain! O Rain! Thou, a proud Indra’s nectar, shan’t cease to exist,

O Rain! Me, long for thee! ’m parched to core, gasping for breath,

O Rain! My soul exults, I jump, I rejoice at the sight of thy tiny drops,

O Rain! My fetus arid and lifeless, drench me more & more, I persist,

O Rain! I pray thee! come and feed my tiny toddlers, I fear death,

O Rain! Let my flora-fauna enjoy life, thou rightly deserve their props.

Mighty Zeus strikes blows midst thy little-shiny shimmering showers,

Seedlings stirred, ready to sprout up, mountains smile, creeks gurgle,

Inky Meghas release aqua, sun glides to the house of Capricorn,

Balbhadra dances in rhythm; Jyeshtha chills, Chaturmasa powers,

Yakshas, Apsaras, serpents, elephants procreate, Indra on His erotic saddle,

God Vishnu slumbers on Shesha, Dakshinyana rewarded, lord Krishna born.

O Rain! thou a boon or bane, me fail to understand!

Mystic art thou, why dost thou fill thy banks with sand?

Frenzy rides on horse! Indra busy with nymphs, Megha let loose to pour down

Ferociously on my womb, at times swallowing my clay robe with fierce fury,

Life giving nectar metamorphoses into venom, flora and fauna abhor,

They play a thundering ruthless game to don a malefic b’t coveted crown,

Streams rush, rivers thunder; is it your will to turn my visage eerie?

Yeomen wail & cry like a sperm whale! Enough! we crave for no more!
