Not Today

Maybe I will go back again,

Opening the dreaded door once again .

Standing outside my Demons eagerly await ,holding my vices on a golden plate.

The wicked smile along with the piercing eyes, conveying a thousand words even

though its lips remain silent.

Waiting for me to drop the idea of chasing my dreams,

To see me falter and fall back, along the path of the noisy crowd,

Already feeling ashamed of those prospective screams.

Of the various taunts, jeers and sneers ,

Which although have not yet arrived,

but are definitely successful in convincing me that they are truly real.

Telling me all along that it won’t really matter,

it’s just one drink you will hardly feel anything ,

in fact you will feel more relaxed and rejuvenated later.

My lips pine for a sip, which sets my heart racing,

like too long lost lovers we do stare

going through an eternal gaze of past reminiscence.

Yet a gentle tender voice within says NOT TODAY .

Thus in a magnitude of rage I fling the bottle away,

repeating with batted breath NOT TODAY.

Thou-shalt-not destroy me today,

I care not what what trickery you have in store for me in the future,

but in this moment I rule over you and I command you to withdraw back with your

failure.

even though you will rise again trying to entice me with your mischief

but for now I will yet again say NOT TODAY NOT TODAY .
