Not a throne but love’s abode

I opened my heart to you

but I should have warned you though

What you shall see is not pathways paved in gold,

crystal chandeliers nor infinite meadows.

You shan’t see a divine light enthroned on a holy peak

or hear the cherubs’ choirs of glee.

Magical beings and sparkling dust

that’s something here, you cannot seek.

It’s dark in here and perhaps damp too

with no celestial guidance to lead you.

Watch your step, there may be crevices deep

carved by tears that’ve flowed endlessly.

There’s rocky wilderness – unlike heaven’s floor -

with fallen castles and deathly moors.

But if you’ve come this far, now you’ll see

thriving canopies and fresh water streams.

It’s not the perfume of virgin blooms that you smell

but the fragrant victory of my tired flower bed;

that bloomed in the face of cynical storms

breathing life into forsaken ground.

And yet I caution to watch your step,

for it’s still my heart on which you tread.

With gashes and scars from love lost and made

It’s still as wild as an untamed flame!

Like a warm ocean – my soul – it calms, it heals;

but serenity is not my niche.

So watch your step before you dive

for addictive is my passion – ever restless and alive!

So should you choose to come, I still hold my door for you

One that isn’t made of pious gold

but a flawed and mended earthly door

A gateway to an intense soul!
