Nocturne

By Zoha Sameer Wadiwalla

The ebony hued night sky,

Adorned with twinkling stars

Where the nocturnal find solace in the stillness of life,

Overwhelming yet tranquil.

The fleeting hours between dusk and twilight

Where the world is in deep slumber,

But the ones awake, are weaving their course of life;

Overthinking.

Pondering.

Envisaging.

Reflecting.

All the words unspoken,

And tears yet to trickle

The wide smiles that the day witness’

Are now frowned faces,

Looking for spaces,

Amidst this disrupted world.

Sleep is often death and wakefulness means life

But those conscious at night,

Are they dead or alive?
