Nightshades
By Bismay Rath
Quiet hours, sombre a glow,
Luna whispers secrets only Nyx can know.
Lone nocturne-
A child barren-bold, seeks to explore
A heart, a void, a chasm of woe.
Intrigued, gazes Selene, waning her light,
Shapes a sanctuary, she is kind,
Hopes to be humoured,
Blankets the blank night.
Yet, moonstruck he remains,
Adrift a blighted mind.
Seeks concord, yearns for respite
From this hail of frozen dreams,
Wherein flails a soul uneasy,
Crying a silent scream.
No armistice in sight, left is nihility,
And thoughts no good seize him tonight.
At the heavens he glances,
Hopes for the bright to embrace him,
A shame.
Staked, no solace in sight,
Only cold bars of blood,
Made of his own, alleviate his plight.
Ergo, he thinks.
He thinks of the past- it spites him,
He thinks of the love that defines him,
Weighs the sorrow- questions its worth,
A sense of loss, and an answer in company-
Kindest of paths know to never invite him,
Till hollow he has become.
