NEVER TO SHED A TEAR

I cried that day

I cried enough

To make my eyes dry

Forever.

Now when I hear you call

Someone else so dearly

Holding so closely

Kissing so lovingly—

But I don’t shed a tear.

I wept that day

All night long

To make me strong forever.

Now when you go afar so blatantly

Without looking at me

Without saying good bye

Without even recognizing—

But I don’t shed a tear.

Today I hope,

you don’t come near

As my eyes may, again,

Shed a drop of tear.
