Never Made Whole

The only thing that remains with you

when all have left -

is the shredded heart,

stitched with memories that never fade,

now turned cold,

tightening the chest,

choking the breath,

spiraling into silent panic.

But once,

it was warm -

a master of love, of care, of giving.

Yet never once did it find a soul

who stayed,

who fought,

who made it whole.

This is a devastating and beautifully articulated portrayal of grief and abandonment. The poem's strength lies in its brutal contrast.
