Never, Always, Now

By Mehana Agihotri

Never the priority

Always the second choice

Always the one

Who remained silent

Never the one that

Used her voice

Never the one

Who reached for the stars

Always the one

Who worried about

How far away they are

Never the written

Always the writer

Never the saved

Always the fighter

Never the consoled

Always the one

That stayed strong

Never the one

Who was asked,

"Are you alright?

What's wrong?"

Now the one

Who doesn't believe in light

Now the one

Who bleeds and doesn't cry
