Nervous Poet

By Ridhima Bhagawati

Poetry article in the newspaper,

Columns of the back page.

So obscure, I’d have to concentrate,

To hear the nervous poet on stage.

Mumbling on your nighttime revelation,

Miniature fireworks at your tongue’s edge;

Filter the audience for those faces,

That watch and listen from start to end.
