Necessity

By Mehana Agnihotri

You wear a mask

And so do I

A necessity to prevent

Catching the wrong eye

Some smiles are important

To throw hear and there

A necessity to ensure

A smooth functioning of affairs

A funny word "necessity"

So sweet to say

But the lines soon blur

Between a choice and none

When your mask becomes your face

And your smiles turn fake

So beware the power

This guise may hold

A nectar it is indeed

But is it truly worthy

To have your heart poisoned

And your smile sold?
