Nature's Spell

I sit in a pastureland on moist soil and short grass,

Facing the prodigious mountains which mountaineers dare to climb,

The sun rises from its narrow col drawing a bridge between the two blunt peaks,

As the sky changes from a dark blue to a yellow – orange hue.

Birds start chirping and the farm animals stretch their limbs,

Dew drops on the blades vaporize as they fight to survive amidst farmers and cattle,

Butterflies flutter above the grass revealing their mesmerizing multicolor wings,

Frogs croak as they forage for their first meal in the pond gamboling from leaf to leaf.

Farmers arrive on the field with a crook on a wooden stick to snap foliage for the morning treat,

Pigs and cows stay calm in their shed waiting in anticipation for crunchy sod with a hint of dirt,

I lay in the middle of all this subtle chaos observing the sun as it fully emerges from the massifs,

My mind feeling a serene sense of calm and warmth as the sunshine touches my face.

I rest my eyes and all the sounds around me instantaneously muffle and diminish,

I throw my rear on the padded damp soil and soft meld feeling as light as a cloud,

All I think about in that moment is the unrecognized luxury that the nature provides,

The bare minimum in a perfect setting which enhances its unsubstantiated worth.
