Nature’s Great Wave

By Richard MacNeill

A vision of a great wave

and there is nothing to do about it

We are in awe

We can surf

and we can swim

and we hold each other close

All the terror and confusion is gone

Nature’s great wave

has no greed or ambition

We are all thoroughly alive and dead

in the One Sea

What if? stifles transformation

There is no end to prophecy

We must be fully ourselves

or shrink in unhappy plight

I once thought ambition was greed

and it can be

but ambition is also to refuse misery

Nature’s energy is to be the great wave you are

and not hold yourself below the height of the world
