Nature Is For All

By Rishika Agrawal

I lay in my bed, cozy and warm that Sunday. It was a winter morning. The Sun had hardly shown up in the past few days.

The alarm kept snoozing, but that was only to be stopped to snooze again.

After a lot of struggle I managed to leave my bed.

I opened the window and the Sun rays lightened my face. Slowly the cool morning breeze hit me and it was yet another wonderful day to be enjoyed.

I moved out of the room into the balcony….

Something really beautiful caught the corner of my eye. I saw a small sparrow chirping happily to celebrate the rays of the Sun.

It whistled so hard and sweet that i couldn’t take off my eye from it.

For few moments I was lost in the beauty of this tiny yet wonderful creation of Lord.

Being an Ornithologist by profession, I could never spare a bird to leave without meeting me.

You might be amused that how I could be amazed just with a bird like sparrow, which is very easily found in a country like India. But then it was a mother Sparrow.

After adoring the beauty for few moments, I started to realize that it wasn’t the normal chirp. It actually needed help.

All thanks to the study of birds (Ornithology)that helped me to understand my chirpy friend that day.

As she chirped by flying onto a nearby tree, I followed her slowly and peeped. There was a small nest with three little birdies, hanging down, ready to hit the ground any moment. The eggs might have hatched just few hours ago.

The reason for this wasn’t any natural calamity, but a deed of a human being.

The furniture company owner had ordered to chop down few of the tress to get wood for his work.

The hard chopping bought this mother and child crew in an unknown danger.

I slowly climbed and got the nest down safely and provided shelter to this lovely family on a tree just close to my house…….

Today the birdies come and pay me a visit, chirp happily and enjoy their food and shelter in the same tree.

Nature and Earth are to be shared with all the living beings at par. But we human think we are the most powerful creature and can chop down anything at anytime as per our use,,,,,

Think before you act. Even trees have life, they are not only shelter to these creatures but innumerable other organisms and we human depend on them even for air to breathe.

Save nature, Save life.
