Nature and Seed

By Ragi Mishra

Seed: I’ve slept too long beneath the ground,

No sun, no praise, no cheering sound.

Why must my journey be this slow?

Why can’t they see how much I grow?

Nature: Oh, my child, don’t curse the night,

The dark must come before the light.

I’m shaping you in ways unseen,

To make your rise calm, pure, and clean.

Seed: But others bloom, and I still hide,

The world forgets me, buried inside.

Their petals shine, while I decay.

Why must my dawn be kept away?

Nature: Their spring is theirs, your time will come,

The dawn will call, and you’ll become.

The storm that breaks you, makes you bloom,

The wait you hate, becomes your root.

Seed: Then will I ever reach the skies,

To feel the sun and meet its eyes?

Nature: When you no longer fear the deep,

You’ll rise from dreams you dared to keep.

For patience grows what haste cannot

And I, dear Seed, have not forgot.

But promise me, when you finally rise,

You’ll thank the dark that made you wise.
