Hallway But Not The Hotel

In the chit-chat and clutter;

There are also choking voices and vocal stutter..

Someone wants to fast track the clock;

To receive a good news, slightly before,

While some want to stall the time;

To delay the bad news and misery,just a little more..

What an irony it is;that the walls here witness,

More earnest prayers ,than places of worship;

What an irony it is;that while fasting causes fatigue,

Those waiting in these corridors don't even notice about the meals they skip..

It is a place which spectates ,tears of both sorrow and joy;

It is a place which spectates, people bringing flowers to offer condolences ;

And also congratulatory gifts for a new born,

In the form diapers and toys..

You'll find a shoulder to cry on;

And you'll also find the lap of a new mother,

In whose care, every grief is gone..

It is not just a building,

Made of cement and bricks;

It's a book with thousands of stories,

Having everything from jubilance, anguish, helplessness and emotional conflicts..

A place of birth and death;

A place where you take the first and the last breath...
