Mystery Of The Ocean

By Sayesha Atolia

In the depths of the ocean

the mystical blue pools of ripples

a mystery lurks below

Scales so radiant they blind the sea

the waves that sparkle behold a speck of beauty

they wish to see

They crackle with energy

crashing against each other

The bubbles that pool are a flicker

of the haunting, beautiful figure it hides

I row my boat atop the unknown layers

The shades of blue are calling to me

they’re mystical and dazzling

maybe they will understand a part of me

Are they lulling me in?

They see my fear

my reluctance to hear the melodious flows

As the wind howls and my boat wrecks

I feel it reaching out to me again

I gaze into the clear, pure sea

oh, it’s tainted by me

My reflection is a contrast

to the beauty it once used to be

I stagger back

peeking down at the dark, shimmery water

that shows the true me

distorted and powerless

How do I resist the magic it poses on me?

Drowning would be better than the chance I take

with all my might to resist thee.
